Saturday Sounds

Saturday, June 15

Remember when I used to do this thing called Saturday Sounds?

Well, I'm going to do it again. The last one I did was Christmas music the weekend after Thanksgiving so... it's been awhile. And looking at my Youtube profile I can see I started making a playlist in April, but never used it, so maybe I'll share that one next week.

But this week is all about musicals. It started when I watched Pitch Perfect a couple weeks ago. Why it took so long for me to watch it, I have no idea. I loved it. And even better: Calliope loved it. She tried to sing and learned how to lip sync. It's adorable. So I went through Netflix and my movie collection and we watched anything musical. So here are my Saturday Sounds.

  1. Cups - Anna Kendrick from the Pitch Perfect Soundtrack // I could have just shared the entire soundtrack. It's pretty great. I probably listen to it at least once a day at work. No joke.
  2. My Freeze Ray from Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog // This is the best. I mean, it has Neil Patrick Harris in it so how can it not be? This is also one soundtrack that is pretty cool all the way through.
  3. I'll Cover You from Rent // I saw Rent on stage when they went on tour in 2010 I think? (2009, thank you Google) and Adam Pascal and Anthony Rapp reprised their roles as Roger and Mark. It was pretty exciting. The rest of the musical is maybe not 100% appropriate for a toddler, but until she's old enough to understand we're going to listen to whatever makes her happy. :)
  4. I'm Gonna Always Love You from The Muppets Take Manhattan // I love the Muppets. This was my favorite movie as a kid and it's still one of my go to sick movies. You know when you're sick and miserable and all you want to do is eat your favorite comfort food and watch your favorite movies? This is probably the top comfort movie for me.
  5. You Can Fly from Peter Pan // We just bought the Diamond Edition a few weeks ago and we've watched it a couple times now. This was another one of my favorite movies as a kid. I remember that my grandma had the VHS (ask you parents, kids) and we watched it a lot.
  6. Upside Down from Curious George // This one is for Calliope. Really she likes the theme song for the TV show better, but that wasn't on Youtube, so Jack Johnson it is. I bought this soundtrack when the movie came out and had no plans of ever having a baby. Life is weird. :)
